Please Welcome... Amy Tuft, Author of 'Midnight Feast at the Zoo' - coming soon!

Mother. Wife. Chocoholic. Teller of bad jokes.

Amy attended university, graduating with a law degree and has carved out a career working in Global Supply Chain to pay the bills.

Having tried her hand at most crafts including wreath making, chocolate modelling, interior design and painting, Amy is always looking for ways to unleash her inner creativity. Her husband can’t keep track of her different hobbies.

As a mother of two young boys who are animal-mad, Amy frequently finds herself at the Zoo, the Aquarium, the Farm or at the Dinosaur Museum. Never does a parent know more about animals and dinosaurs than when they’re parenting young children! They could be Amy’s chosen mastermind subjects.

It was her children’s passion for animals that inspired her to pick up a pen and write her first children’s book ‘Midnight Feast at the Zoo’ and she hopes it brings joy to other children as their imaginations bring to life the adventures that happen when the zoo visitors go home.

What inspired you to start writing?

My little boys, Sebastian and Samuel. Both boys adore animals so wanted to write a book which incorporate their love of them and to inspire them to believe they can do anything they put their mind to.

When did you start writing?

During the first UK lockdown - like most of us at that time, I had a lot more time on my hands!

Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Growing up, I’ve always enjoyed writing little poems and rhymes, it’s only as I’ve gotten older that I’ve had the confidence to put some of my work out there.

Who is your favourite character?

The book features a number of different animals. My favourite has to be the sloth! I’d love to spend more time in the slow lane!

What do you hope your readers take away from this book?

I wrote the book for children and their growns up to read aloud together, and enjoy a wonderful moment of adventure and imagination.

Your story is set in the Zoo. Why did you chose that setting for your story?

My boys and I are members of Chester Zoo and so frequently find ourselves visiting and learning about all the animals who live there so thought it would be wonderful to bring some of those memories to life in the book.

What famous author do you wish was your mentor?

Roald Dahl! His imagination and his ability to create the most interesting, inspiring vocabulary is amazing. I would ask him where he gets his inspiration from.

Favourite Quote?

"Great oaks from little acorns grow."

Have you ever been on any sports teams?

Yes! And still am. I enjoy playing netball for a local team… though at 37, I can’t quite cover the netball court in the same way I did when I was 16!

What’s your favourite food?

Chocolate. Always chocolate. Too much chocolate!

If you had to describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?

Chaotic. Kind. Chocoholic.
